Lighting is the layer most often left to the electrician, and the one that most transforms how a home feels. Done well, it is barely noticed - rooms simply feel right, shifting from bright and practical by day to soft and layered by evening.
We design lighting as an integral part of each room: where light is needed, how it is layered, and the atmosphere it creates. Every plan is measured and coordinated so your electrician and contractor can install it accurately, with the design intent held intact from paper to ceiling.
The furniture on an architect’s plan is there to show scale, not to be lived with. Light it, and the placeholder becomes permanent - the bed goes where the light is, rather than the other way round.
We resolve the layout first, then light it. Never the other way round.
You can take lighting on its own, alongside your architect, interior designer or contractor. We bring a full understanding of interior design to it - spatial planning, furniture layouts, materials, joinery and architectural detailing. So the scheme answers to the wider design, and to how you will really use each room. And it makes us straightforward to work with, whoever else is on your team.
The result is a home that works beautifully in daily life - and feels calm, layered and considered throughout.
Two ways to work
How we begin depends on where your project is. Whichever route suits you, we design the lighting in direct response to a settled layout.
Lighting Design
Choose this route when your layout and architecture are already settled. We take the agreed arrangement as fixed and design the lighting to respond precisely to it, coordinating cleanly with your wider team. This route starts from a layout that is already settled - the lighting is designed in response to it. If yours is still taking shape, Lighting & Layout below will suit you better.
- Design coordination & layout review - a coordination step to ground the scheme in your confirmed layout, liaising with your designer or architect where involved.
- Lighting design - concept strategy, measured plans, circuits, switching logic, schedules and lighting-related socket plans for each room.
- Lighting specification - a full schedule with product references, quantities and positioning, so your electrician and contractor can procure and install accurately.
Lighting & Layout
Choose this route when your layout would benefit from a designer’s eye first. We review and enhance the arrangement of each room, then design the lighting in direct response to the layout we have agreed together. Best when your layout is not yet fixed, and you would like it resolved before we design the lighting. If the layout needs testing in more depth, our Planning service does exactly that.

Good to know
If you are installing a smart or automated system, we design the scheme and work alongside your AV specialist. They handle its supply, programming and commissioning. Once opened up, individual fittings may need minor on-site adjustment to suit the ceiling construction - we liaise directly with your electrician to keep the design intent intact.

See it in practice
Lighting runs through every project, but three show it most clearly. At the Felden Family Home the lighting was designed once we knew how each room would be used and where every piece of furniture would sit, so it follows the life of the house rather than the other way round. At the Cassiobury Family Home in Watford, decorative and architectural lighting was planned alongside a new kitchen diner and a ground floor guest suite. And at The Stockholm Home, the lighting was reviewed rather than redesigned, working with the socket placement and wiring already in place.
